How does communicating through mass media and social media differ from other human communication?

The fundamental concept of Communication is that it varies depending upon the requirements and nature of the scenario. Firstly, we will discuss communication and its basic types.

Communication Process: The process of transfer of a message from the sender to the receiver through a proper channel is called communication. The process of communication is carried out through a proper mechanism.

The Mechanism of communication evolves the above-mentioned steps. The sender encodes the message and then sends it to the receiver through a selected medium (channel). The message is received by the receiver. The receiver then decodes the message and gives feedback to the sender. This is the standard mechanism of the communication process. Now we will put a light on the types of communications and how they differ.

·       Mass-communication: The process in which a mass audience is involved is called Mass-communication. In this process, the sender sends his message to a hetero generous and divided audience.

·       Interpersonal communication: One on one communication or face to face communication is called interpersonal communication. In this process, both the sender and receiver are present before each other.

COMMUNICATION THROUGH MASS-MEDIA/ SOCIAL MEDIA:

The communication in which mass-media or social-media is involved comes under the umbrella of Mass-communication. In mass media, the audience is heterogeneous and physically diverse.
